November, 2013 -- Mattie Liston has just played her final collegiate soccer game, a Mid American Conference (MAC) tournament quarterfinal loss to Eastern Michigan.  Though there is little solace in any loss, Mattie does have her individual statistics to consider....

* Career Saves --  403. First in Ohio history. Fifth in MAC history.
* Career Shutouts --  20. First in Ohio history. Eighth in MAC history.

Meet Mattie Liston


Head ShotMattie was born on October 14, 1991. She calls Lakewood, Ohio her permanent home.

Mattie now attends the Russ College of Engineering at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she  will graduate in December of 2014. Mattie is majoring in Engineering Technology and Management, where she studies a variety of industrial technologies and processes that will lead her toward a career in a manufacturing setting, or perhaps in distribution to manufacturers. Her studies include plastics, metal fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, CNC, CAD/CAM and many more industrial technologies. She also will graduate with a business minor.

Mattie recently finished an outstanding four-year stint with the Ohio University Women's Soccer team. Details of her collegiate soccer career are provided elsewhere on this web site.

Prior to attending Ohio University, Mattie completed high school at the Montessori High School at University Circle. Mattie was one of eight seniors who graduated from the first senior class at "MHS." MHS provides a unique learning opportunity by combining experience-based developmental learning with formal academic disciplines.  MHS partners with Cleveland's University Circle institutions as interdisciplinary resources to create an exceptional learning experience.

As a high school freshman and sophomore, Mattie attended Magnificat High School. While at Magnificat, Mattie was the starting goalkeeper for every varsity soccer game. In her sophomore season, Mattie led her team to the final 16 in the Ohio OHSAA soccer playoffs, and was named the team MVP.

Mattie attended Ruffing Montessori School in Rocky River, Ohio from kindergarten through 8th grade.

Besides soccer, Mattie enjoys playing guitar, and participating in other sports and activities. Mattie has traveled extensively, including Mongolia, Spain, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Montreal and numerous cities in the United States. Mattie lives with her parents and her sister Katie in Lakewood, Ohio.
